(1) Whoever, in contravention of the rules made under this Act, brings or takes away any thing or goods into or out of the prison or engages in doing so or gives or gives to any detainee or prisoner any thing or goods which is prohibited. ¥ If found to have visited or attempted to do so or corresponded with any detainee or prisoner or any employee of the prison knowingly or negligently allowed such things to happen or any person abetted any of the crimes listed above, such person or employee shall be imprisoned for up to 6 months or up to two hundred rupees There may be a fine or both.
(2) If a detainee or prisoner commits any of the following acts, he shall be given a warning or be deprived of any exemption from punishment for good behavior or shall be confined in a solitary place or room for a period not exceeding fifteen days or in the case of a detainee or prisoner other than a woman and a patient, shall be imprisoned for a period not exceeding one month. If it is not nailed, if nailed, handcuffed and if nailed, chained –
(a) If criminal force is used in any way on a person,
(b) uses abusive or threatening language against any person,
(c) In case of immoral or indecent or undisciplined conduct,
(d) Unauthorized opening or breaking of nails or handcuffs,
(e) knowingly destroys or destroys any property of the prison,
(f) destroys, defaces, or tears any missile or document,
(g) Possessing or sending any prohibited thing or goods,
(h) If any employee or detainee or prisoner is knowingly falsely accused,
(j) If he feigns illness,
(j) fails to report or refuses to report that a fire has been committed or any conspiracy has been committed or that any prisoner or prisoner has escaped or attempted to escape or that an attack has been or is being made on the prison staff or any prisoner or prisoner,
(k) If any prisoner or detainee escapes or engages in an escape,
(l) If any other act is done in contravention of the rules made under this Act.
(3) A separate book shall be kept as prescribed in relation to the offense mentioned in sub-section (2) and if any punishment has been given to any prisoner under that section, the jailer shall state the same in that book and sign it.
